A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. It lets the site remember something about you between page loads or visits — that you're signed in, for example, or which region you're browsing from.
We also use "similar technologies" — things like local storage that work in much the same way and are covered by this policy.
Cookies are not programs. They cannot run code, they cannot read other files on your device, and they cannot carry viruses.
We don't use cookies to build advertising profiles or sell your activity to third parties.
Non-essential cookies only run with your consent, and you can change your mind at any time.
We use the smallest set of cookies needed to run the service securely and improve it.
Session cookies clear when you close your browser; persistent ones have defined expiry dates.

When you first visit, you can accept or decline the categories that require consent. Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the service cannot function without them.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Every major browser lets you view stored cookies, delete individual ones, block third-party cookies, and clear everything when you close the browser. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site or app from working.
Some features are provided by trusted third parties — for example payment processing and bot protection on our forms. Those providers may set their own cookies, governed by their own privacy and cookie policies. Where we use them, we've chosen providers who handle data under contract and in line with UK data protection law.
If we introduce a new category of cookie, or change what an existing one does, we'll update this page and — where the change requires it — ask for your consent again. The review date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
